The Washington Chapter hosted its first virtual PDI for the National Capital Region (and beyond) on 11 March 2021. More than 2,000 financial managers from the Department of Defense and Coast Guard tuned in to hear from the Services’ FM leadership, keynote speakers such as the Honorable David Norquist, former Deputy Secretary of Defense, the CIOs from Navy and Air Force, along with the Deputy Comptroller for Enterprise Data and Business Performance. They also heard from BG Gavin Lawrence, US Army, Commander of Troop Support, and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) on how DLA is supporting the COVID-19 vaccine distribution program. This year’s theme of “Transformation & Technology: Push your limits!” also included 9 corporate-sponsored transformation sessions focused on sharing innovation success stories such as “Call of Duty: Artificial Intelligence”, “End-to-End PPBE Digital Transformation”, and “Rapid Scalability of Business Intelligence Solutions in the Air Force”. The terrific volunteer committee, speakers, and corporate sponsors enabled us to have an outstanding slate of presentations and great day of professional development, dialogue, and collaboration across government and industry. The event also launched our Washington Chapter Early Careerist initiative – under the leadership of Cody Ferguson/OUSDC (government) and Matt Ledder/Definitive Logic (industry) spearheading this Future FM leader cohort! Attendees at the NCR Virtual PDI earned up to 7 CPEs.
Next year’s ASMC NCR PDI [hopefully in person] will be 10 March 2022. The ASMC Washington website is https://www.washington-asmc.org/Home.html for further information on membership and events.
